Hi, I’m Carolyn Vasilevich.
I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Precision Nutrition Certified Nutrition Coach, Functional Nutrition and Metabolism Specialist, with a B.S. in Human Biology from UCSC, and 4 years of experience working with a wide range of clients from busy moms wanting a lifestyle change to elite athletes wanting to perfect their physique or athletic performance.
I have myself been coached and mentored under WBFF World’s Fitness Champion Hattie Boydle and Sam Miller of Sam Miller Science. Before becoming a Personal Trainer & Functional Nutrition Coach I worked as an Analytical Scientist for 4 years, and love to bring my passion for research and ability to make data-based decisions into my coaching practice.
Along with many other women, I struggled my entire post pubescent life with body image issues and disordered eating patterns. I've gone through the stage of thinking that excessive cardio, high intensity workouts and under-eating were the only way to achieve my body goals, influenced by the media and diet culture to always chase being a “smaller” version of myself.
When I found strength training this all changed, and I finally embraced how strong my body was and appreciated it for what it could do. I gained muscle, confidence, and strength. Above all else I felt energetic and healthy. However, I still struggled with limiting beliefs around food, simultaneously worried about whether I was eating enough to progress my performance and strength goals, and concerned that I was eating too much for my body composition goals.
I finally felt freedom from this constant doubt when I discovered flexible dieting. I was awed by the science behind calculating macronutrient needs according to someone's height, weight, gender, age, lifestyle, and body composition goals. As a former scientist, I love tracking data and knowing with confidence that I was giving my body enough, but not too much, of the macronutrient breakdown that it needed. I reached my body composition goals, felt stronger than I ever thought possible, was eating more carbs than ever, and wasn't feeling the need to do cardio to see results.
Committing myself to a process and learning how to maintain discipline, especially on the days where my motivation would fade was the ultimate form of self love for me. Hormonal issues, bad days, and just plain life can derail that lovely feeling of high activation we feel when we are motivated. For me that would show up in all forms: under-eating then binging, eating out of boredom, or overeating late at night as a way to seek comfort. None of these were habits that were serving me or making me feel better physically or mentally. Through practicing this commitment to myself every day I know that I am showing up for myself and others as the greatest version of myself, and can do absolutely anything that I set my mind to.
It is my passion to help others find a healthy relationship with food, escape “yo-yo dieting”, achieve their fitness goals, find their strength, improve their confidence, and practice self-love through committing to sustainable daily action that will progress them to the greatest version of themselves in every area of life.
